Under the Tuscan Sun

I am loving this summer so much. Not only am I extremely thankful to be in Italy, but each week that I am teaching at an English camp, I live with a family who has a student at the camp.  My first week of camp was in Prato, which is in Tuscany and near Florence, so near that we casually went to Piazzale Michelangelo one evening for the sunset!

During my week here, I stayed with the absolute sweetest family who treated me like one of their own.  We did many fun outing together and I literally spent the week under the Tuscan sun!

Rainbow of Burano

I was enamored with Burano the first time I saw a photo of the colorful buildings. Determined to visit this place of my dreams, I went there with my family last winter as a half day trip from Venice. It was fantastic, however I knew I wanted to return when the weather was warm and sunny with blue skies.

I was so happy to have the perfect day in Burano upon my return this summer. I spent all morning walking around, taking photos, and simply enjoying the colorful streets.

Besides the pink and colorfulness, my favorite part is that there isn't anything that you must "do" in Burano except enjoy where you are.

It's simple, it's cheerful, and it's easily accessible from Venice.

Other than being known for it's rainbow of colors, Burano is also famous for handmade lace. I was almost late to my vaporetto back to Venice because I was enthralled with all the beautiful, dainty clothes trimmed in lace.
