SNOW much fun!

I am home for the weekend, and when I woke up this morning there was 3 more inches of snow on the ground!  This definitely made for a fun and cozy day.  My mom and I made snow ice cream, watched a cute movie on TV, and even went outside for a while (then warmed up with some cappuccino!)

We've all heard the saying "when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade."  Well, when life gives you snow, you should definitely make snow ice cream!
Making snow ice cream could not be easier - just 3 ingredients and SNOW!  I just made a small batch, but typically we use 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of sugar, 1 tablespoon of snow, and 1 gallon of snow.  Mix it all together {ADD SPRINKLES!} and enjoy!

Snow pictures are one of my favorite things ever, and with the bright sunny day, how could I resist?
This cheery yellow mug is perfect for warming up!

I hope you have SNOW much fun this weekend, xoxo, Roxanne

Nail Polish Favorites

Life always seems to sparkle a little brighter when your nails are painted! These are some of my favorite colors lately - especially because it feels like spring is never going to come with all this cold and gloomy weather. But, even though it's not always sunny, it's always possible to be in a sunny state of mind!  These 5 colors are bound to make your day a little happier!

 From left to right:
Double breasted jacket - a pinkish red ruby color
Sittin' pretty - a bright cheery lavender
Blossom dandy - a light blue with a touch of minty green
Just stitched - a warm pearly blush pink

These colors can be purchased on the essie website as well as multiple other locations!

Xoxo & happy Monday!

Tomorrow is...

VALENTINE'S DAY! I am so excited! I was going to go home this weekend, but instead I am headed to Ball State University for a get together with friends from Virginia Beach Summer Project (which you can read about in this post)! It is bound to be a super great weekend full of laughter and love all around.

I wanted to share Isaiah 43 with you all - and when you read it, read it as if it is a love letter to you from God (I got this idea from this blog!)  Then, try to put it into your own words like so:
"Dear (insert name here), I created you, I formed you.  Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, and you are mine.  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and the waters won't overwhelm you.  When you walk through fire, you will not be burned and the flame shall not consume you.  I am the Lord your God, your Savior.  The holy one.  You are precious in my eyes, you are honored, and I love you! Fear not for I am with you.  I created you for my glory.  I formed you and I made you.  I want you to know me and believe me and understand that I am he - The Lord.  There was none before me and no one will come after me.  Try not to remember the pains of the past, I am doing new things.  I formed you to declare my praise.  You are not giving me all of your heart, and you are not letting me fulfill your desires.  You have burdened me with you sins.  But I am your God, and I blot out your transgressions for my own sake.  I will not remember your sins.  Love, God.
Verse 4 of this passage is so sweet! God calls us precious and tells us that he loves us.  There really isn't anything better than the love that God has for us, his children.

Enjoy your day and know that you are SO loved!
Xoxo, Happy Valentine's Day! Love,

Workout Gear

Working out is always more fun when you wear cute workout attire, right? I, like many others, have fallen in love with the Nike Tempo running shorts - they come in SO many bright and fun colors, and they're also super comfortable to wear.

I've found that Dick's Sporting Goods has a great selection of these shorts - in so many colors! These are some of my favorite:
Another place that has adorable and fashionable workout clothing is Devon Maryn. They have some of the CUTEST shorts and yoga pants ever!
Pair your shorts or yoga pants with some cute shoes and a tee or tank of your choice, and you're ready to hit the gym for a fun and colorful workout!
Happy workout, xoxo!

Countdown to Valentine's Day

As some of y'all may know, Hallmark Christmas movies are one of my favorite things about the Christmas season.  BUT one thing I did not know, was that Hallmark does Valentine's Day movies leading up to Valentine's Day - called the Countdown to Valentine's Day! How cute and romantic and lovely!!
They show romantic movies all day and night, and have 5 new movies premiering this month too.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this.

I hope you have a chance to watch!

Student Discounts

Since being in college I have learned the importance of making every dollar count.  You learn that money is easier to spend than make, you learn that small purchases add up very quickly, and you learn that textbooks cost more than your favorite dress from Lilly Pulitzer.

However, being a college student has it's perks - one of them being student discounts! Here are a few of my favorites:

Classic Cookies

I don't know about you, but I think that (one of) the best kinds of cookies are Chocolate Chip - they're easy to make and yummy to eat! Last night I didn't have anything to do, so I got out my favorite recipe and began to bake!

You will need:
3/4 cup of shortening
1 1/4 cup of packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons of milk
1 tablespoon of vanilla
1 egg
2 cups of flour
1 teaspoon of salt
3/4 teaspoon of baking soda
1 cup of milk chocolate chips

Step 1) Preheat oven to 375 degrees and get your mixer ready to go (I absolutely love my pink KitchenAid mixer!)
Step 2) Combine the shortening, brown sugar, milk, and vanilla, and beat until well blended
Step 3) Beat egg into creamed mixture
Step 4) Combine flour, salt, and baking soda.  Mix into mixture just until blended
Step 5) Add chocolate chips
Step 6) Place on cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes
Step 7) Let cool, plate, and enjoy!!!

Hope you have just as much fun making them as I did!
Xoxo, Roxanne
