Lilly in Fall

I am a full believer that Lilly can be worn year round, and especially in the fall! Recently when I get dressed in the morning, if I know it is going to warm up in the afternoon I pair my outfit it with a navy cardigan (navy is my neutral!) This "tones down" the summery aspect, but still brings joy and happiness through color! Pair your outfit with with booties and you're good to go!

I got the top below from the After Party Sale, and especially since the shirt is 3/4 sleeves and has navy on the bottom, I feel it is the perfect transition outfit to cooler weather and more cozy tones.  I am a full believer that pink is a fall color also, just add a pumpkin!

Really I don't think there is a bad time to wear Lilly.  Be selective of your prints (or don't - your choice) and be bright year round!

Blanket Scarf Weather

On chilly fall days, there is nothing better than wearing a fuzzy, oversized sweater paired with a tartan blanket scarf. This outfit is the perfect cute, cozy, comfortable ensemble for going to brunch, shopping, or enjoying a fall festival!

I got this scarf last year, but you can get it here for less than $13!

Are you enjoying this weather as much as I am?

Cute, Casual, Accurate

Let me start by saying this: There has NEVER been a truer shirt!

Designed and sold by Thrive Boutique, this cute and casual white t-shirt says, "Fueled by Jesus, coffee, and dry shampoo." Can I get an AMEN?  This is SO me! I would not survive without either! If I am being honest, these photos were taken on day 7 hair made possible by Batiste, if that is any indicator how true this shirt is.

Also from Thrive is this distressed jean jacket that I absolutely adore wearing! It has a super relaxed fit and isn't stiff like other jean jackets that I've worn before. It goes perfectly with so many outfits and I have been loving to wear it this fall season.

Head to Thrive Boutique to get these styles before they're gone.  Use ROXANNE15 for 15% off of your total purchase!

Estes Park, CO

When Jana and I found cheap flights to Denver and began planning our trip, Estes Park was the place I felt best about going to.  Not only did the area look beautiful, but my parents had visited here during their honeymoon!  It was easy to fall in love with this place.

Upon arriving in Estes Park, an adorable quaint town at the base of the Rocky Mountains with plenty of shops and sights as well as perfect location to the Rocky Mountain State Park, we headed straight for the visitors center to check out suggestions for hiking trails for our next day.  This is where we learned that it was nearing off season and that the weather would prevent much of of enjoyment. However, when Jana and I are together and really nothing can get in the way of a good time!

Since it was quite late in the day, we went up and down the shopping street and into every taffy store that advertised "Free Samples!" The weather was cold and rainy, but the autumn leaves were on full display and the pink geraniums down main street were still in bloom.  I call this the best of both worlds! Although we ate so much taffy that we weren't too hungry for supper, we ate anyways and spend our time at the restaurant going through pictures and warming up.

The next morning we woke up early, layered up for the chilly mountain weather, and headed into Rocky Mountain National Park to find some trails.  The weather was not good. Gray skies with rain drizzle occasionally.  Although the landscape was breathtaking, the clouds made it impossible to see the snow topped mountains.

Upon arriving to Bear Lake, we made the loop around, admiring the fall leaves and snow topped pines before they disappeared into the clouds.  The reflection on the water was simultaneously breathtaking and eerie.

There were trails nearby so we choose to head up to Nymph Lake, which was a much more difficult trek, especially due to the high altitude and low air pressure making us feel like we were so out of shape!  My favorite part of this hike was that the farther up we went, the more snow covered the trees around us. So wintery! (I failed to mention, that when we boarded our plane the following day, it was 90 degrees!)

When we descended back down, the fog had increased and it was impossible to even see Bear Lake.  We were lucky we arrived when we did.

Sprague Lake was our next stop, but without the clear skies, the views were not what we were expecting. It was up until this point that I was hopeful that the skies would clear up, but I distinctly remember telling Jana that I was giving up hope that we would see the snow capped Rockies.

Of course, God always prevails. And not long after we returned to our car to head back to Estes Park, the clouds parted, blue skies appeared, and the Rockies made their debut! WE WERE SO EXCITED AND GIDDY! We decide that instead of driving back, we would continue driving and stop throughout to enjoy the views.  This made me so happy and can not get over the beauty!

It remained sunny for a good amount of time, and it seems as though as soon as we started to drive back to Estes Park, the gray clouds resumed. Oh what a great and glorious God we serve, that he allowed us to see his beauty! I won't easily forget the views and feelings I felt this day.

We went back to Estes before we headed back to Denver, stopping in Boulder once more and eating the most delicious pizza I've ever eaten while in America, and Denver was colder and rainier than Estes. We enjoyed the 16th Street Mall and Larimer Square, the most historic block in Denver, and snuggled into our hotel room for the night (which required us asking for extra blankets at the front desk because the hotel had not turned on their heat for the season yet!)

We fit a lot of adventure into one weekend and I am so glad we did!
"Never lose an opportunity to see something beautiful, for beauty is God's handwriting."

Xo,

Hello Boulder

My best friend from Germany came to visit me for a couple of weeks and while she was here we had a long weekend (praises!) We knew we wanted to do a weekend trip to somewhere neither one of us had visited before, so we found the cheapest flights we could and they just happened to be to Colorado!

We flew into Denver, rented a car, and headed towards Estes Park. Boulder is roughly half way between the two so we had planned to spend time in the city for a while before we enjoyed the nature.

Boulder was so neat and we really enjoyed it! Pearl Street was our absolute favorite and where we spend the majority of our time there. So many adorable shops and restaurants, perfect fall weather, and kind people all around.

Pearl street was filled with street performers and free spirits. It was unlike any city I've ever been to.  After walking around here and eating delicious falafel for lunch, we explored a farmers market area and ate ice cream before heading out.  Although we didn't spend much time here, I definitely think that we got a taste of the town and learned that we could have contently spent quite a bit of time here!

Fall Styles

I am so so so excited for fall, fall weather, and fall activities! Even though it's already October 3, the weather seems to still be stuck in summer mode because it was 90 degrees today.  Regardless, I have been stocking up on some fall styles in anticipation. My absolute favorite purchase so far this season is this gorgeous mauve colored jacket from Thrive Boutique

It goes with many outfits, it's really comfortable and flattering, and it even has a cute hood with plaid material lining. If this doesn't scream cozy fall weather, I don't know what does.

Head over to Thrive Boutique and get it now before it's gone! Use code ROXANNE15 to get 15% off!

Happy shopping, xoxo!

My Classroom

Almost one week under my belt of my first year of teaching. I feel very lucky to have a happy and excited group of 23 fourth graders, and I can already tell it will be a fun year!

While it is inevitable that I will be overwhelmed and stressed throughout this year, I also am anticipating the joys to outweigh the bad.  I know that God has me teaching for a reason, and it is my desire that the students know that they are loved, cared for, and important when they are in my class.

Knowing that I want these students to feel welcome, my first goal was to create a positive, fun, and bright environment! I absolutely love decorating and truly had SO much fun planning and preparing my classroom! Some of the things you see in the photos can be found on my Teacher's Pay Teacher's store, which you can check out here!

As you can see, I have implemented some flexible seating into my classroom for the year.  So far it is going well.  For the first week I wrote the student's numbers in different seats each day so that thy get a feel for the different options and learn about where they think they will do their best work at.  Hopefully within the next couple weeks we will be able to transition to them having more of a choice daily or weekly.

Let me know if you have any questions about where I purchased any items!

If you're a teacher, I hope you have a great year! I would love to connect with you in any way!
