Pumpkin Obsessed

If you haven't noticed by now, I think I'm a little pumpkin obsessed!  I just can't get enough of fall, the beautiful leaves, and all the pumpkins (not to mentioned the pumpkin flavored everything!)
This past weekend, my best friend Carley and I went to the pumpkin patch and apple orchard - it was the most beautiful day with sunshine all around and cool crisp air. We had so much fun being together, as always, and we found the perfect pumpkins!

What are some of your favorite fall activities?

Lilly Pulitzer Pumpkin

If you follow me on Instagram (which please do!) you probably came across the picture I posted with my of my Lilly Pulitzer pumpkin featuring my monogrammed converse!  I ordered these a few weeks ago and have worn them nonstop since they've arrived! They're so perfect!  There are not many things better than monograms and Lilly, am I right?
I spent last Friday afternoon painting this Lilly Pulitzer pumpkin (of course I chose to paint it my favorite print, First Impressions), and I am so excited about how it turned out!  My brother told me I should have painted an artificial pumpkin so I wouldn't have to throw it out when it starts to go bad... I wish I would have thought about that! But oh well, I can always make another one next fall :)

Kate Spade

I fell in love with this Kate Spade Dorothy bow coat the second I spotted it on Pinterest last spring.  It was sold out on the website, but I found it new on eBay and talked my mom into letting me order it (i'm so glad she did)! Soon after I bought it, the weather got too warm to wear it, so it sat in my closet all summer!  With the fall temperatures finally getting cool, I couldn't resist breaking it out and wearing it to supper with my family this past weekend.

The length is nice, the color is fabulous, and the bow is PERFECT!  I wish I could wear it every day!
Xoxo, have a great day!

Fall Getaway

This past weekend I had the chance to attend Fall Getaway with Cru, a Christian ministry on campus.  Leading up to the weekend I was excited to have a chance to be with friends, enjoy the fall weather, take a break from school and obligations, and spend time worshiping God and growing in my relationship with Him.
It was such a good weekend and it started my week of so well.  Throughout the week, I began to process what I had learned - God taught me so much about myself and showed me how much a truly do need Him every single day.  Sometimes I think that I can conquer each day without His help and I try time and time again to rely on my own strength.  The thing is, I always fail.  Always.  I am so so thankful for a Savior who never fails me.  He has me in the palm of His hands, and He promises He won't let go.
Another thing God revealed to me was that I have not been making our relationship a priority.  I have not spent time daily in The Word or in prayer or trying to grow closer.  This results in me not feeling super close or connected with God.  One certain verse has been in my head all week, and that is James 4:8, "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you."  When I feel distant to God, this reminds me that when I spend time with him daily, always striving to love Him more and to learn more, I will feel closer to Him.
What an truly Awesome God we serve.
Xoxo, God Bless!

Five Things I've Learned from Running

Running: you either love it, hate it, or both!  I used to run a lot in high school, and this year I am finally consistently getting back into it.  Personally, I love running the most when I've finished haha, but there are so many perks to running, and there are also many things a person can learn about life from running.  Here are some things that I have learned:

1. There are good and bad days
Some days running comes easy:  Your legs are limber, your breathing is good, and your stride perfect.  But on other days you can hardly run a whole minute without stopping and feeling worn out, tight, and like you can't go any farther.  Life can be like this sometimes too.  We have good days and we also have bad days.  Although sometimes the bad days come for no reason, we can look forward to trying again tomorrow and strive to make our bad day the best we can.

2. Alone time is necessary
Personally I enjoy running by myself.  It gives me time to relax, think, and pray.  Praying is definitely one of my favorite things to do when I'm running!  Isn't it so awesome that we can talk to God no matter what we are doing, where we are at, and what time of day it is?

3.  Running with friends is great
Although I like running alone, running with another person has benefits too!  If they have a faster pace, then you're more prone to work harder to keep up, making you better.  When running with a friend, time seems to go by faster because you have someone to talk to and visit with.  I would not be able to survive without my friends.  They continually challenge me and make me better!

4.  Mind over matter
In life and in running this is so true.  What you think you are capable of is what you will accomplish.  Getting caught up in the trivial matters of the day can affect you a lot when you fail to see the positive in each aspect!

5.  Cheer on the people who pass you
Imagine that you're on a trail run and suddenly someone passes you.  This could be discouraging but it can also be such a good opportunity to encourage and praise them for their hard work!  Maybe they have been working just as hard and they deserve recognition.  There is no need to be bitter or jealous, but rejoice with them in their accomplishments!

There are many other ways to relate running to life, but these are just a few!

Lilly Loving

Who said Lilly can only be worn in the warm, sunny, summer months?  We all know the saying, "Not always sunny, but always in a sunny state of mind!"  Even when it's chilly and cloudy, a Lilly outfit is bound to brighten the day!
I was in love with this Delia Shift Dress in "Bright Navy Fountain Hopping Engineered" the first time I saw it.  Sadly, when I first ordered it, it didn't fit me well, but after spending all summer trying to eat healthy and get in better shape, I'm proud to announce that it now fits perfectly!  I paired this dress with a navy cardigan and one of my favorite pair of sandals.

How could I resist posing with such an adorable pumpkin, too!  Maybe I am a little too head over heels in love with fall..

I hope everyone is having a great week!

Happy Harvest

I've grown up on a farm my whole life, and I wouldn't want it to be any other way.  Fall harvest is such a beautiful time of year.  The guys typically spend long hours in the fields bringing in the crops or cultivating the soil, and the ladies help as much as they can (most often making sure they are well fed and have enough cookies!)

My brother is in the combine & my dad is in the tractor!

Cultivate in a farming sense means to prepare the land for farming, think along the lines of tilling and plowing.
However, cultivate in an everyday aspect means to acquire or develop, such as a quality, skill, or sentiment.

What things will you cultivate this season?

Happiness, faithfulness, joy, love, kindness, respect, patience, compassion, gratitude, humbleness?

This season I will strive to develop or improve on these wonderful characteristics.  As 1 Peter 4:8 says: "Above all love each other deeply, for love covers a multitude of sin."  Therefore, when we love others, we will be all of the other traits we strive to be!

Love y'all!
