Hello from Iceland

What a thrill these past few days have been! After overpacking, spending extra money on an overweight suitcase (and still having a pile of stuff that my mom agreed to ship to me...), and saying too many goodbyes, I fell asleep on a plane and woke up in Iceland!

My first stop was none other than the Blue Lagoon, one of the 25 wonders of the world.  Since the sun doesn't rise in Iceland until 10:30, it was dark when I arrived, but when it finally got light enough to see, it was even more beautiful than any picture I had ever seen of it!

Milky blue water, with white steam billowing off of it, surrounded by snowy rocks and hills - it was gorgeous! Even though it was below freezing outside (with occasional snow and sleet), the geothermal heated water was at least 100 degrees and felt so good.  It was the perfect place to relax after a long flight.

The water is full of silica and other minerals, and silica mud is available to use as a face mask (and it made my face feel so soft!) There are also saunas and steam baths at the Blue Lagoon, which were also enjoyable.

The Blue Lagoon was the perfect spa experience and a great way to start this adventure!
