Czeching Prague off the List

I am spending this weekend with my favorite German and sweetest friend, Jana! Our first stop was beautiful Prague.  We both thought Prague looked beautiful and fantastic, but it wasn't until we got there and explored the city that we realized how incredible of a place it is.  Almost every building is sooo intricately designed - the architecture is so detailed and the colors and gold details are so pretty.  My favorite part about being in Prague was simply walking around with Jana and talking as we looked at the many beautiful sights.

On our first day in Prague, we enjoyed catching up and talking while eating breakfast at a little cafe.  Then we went to the top of the Dancing House for a view of the city from above before we made our way across the Vlatava River to the infamous and vibrant John Lennon wall!

Another one of my favorite aspects about Prague was that there were adorable Easter markets that were set up in all the main squares! While we were exploring the castle area, there were markets that had handmade items, painted Easter eggs, and so much food that smell so good.  We enjoyed walking through them and looking at and smelling all the Czech food.

The Golden Lane was such an adorable place within the castle area.  It is a little alley from the the 16th century that is lined with 11 tiny, colorful, cute shops which used to be houses.  There were a lot of tourists here, but we tried our best to take pictures without people in the background. Jana loved that one of the buildings was the former home of a famous Austrian/German writer (Franz Kafka).

We met up with a friend I had made from the night before and ate a traditional Czech meal at U Zlateho Precliku, which was located in a dark, medieval, basement that resembled a dungeon. The food was really good, especially the appetizers and bread!

On our way to the Old Town area, we stopped to take pictures with the iconic Charles Bridge in the background.  Once at the Old Town Square, there were more adorable Easter markets that we enjoyed walking through.  Unfortunately the famous astronomical clock was under renovation, but the entire Old Town area was so enjoyable to walk around.

Even though there is a place where you can get the popular chimney cakes (trdelnik) on almost every corner of Prague, we wanted to get one from the Cafe Good Food, which is known by many tourists. Their chimney cakes look soooo yummy and they even offer different fillings than other places such as mac and cheese, apple strudel, and more). We got one on the first day, and they were really good, but we liked the normal trdelnik from the the less touristy places even better!

To end the day, we took a river cruise on the Vlatava River during sunset (soooo pretty!) and then walked across the Charles Bridge, one of the most visited sights in Prague that connects Old Town with Mala Strana, ensuring to rub the baroque statue plaques that guarantee a granted wish and a return trip to Prague.

On the second day we walked around and admired the city more, took pictures, and ate so much food. We had an American breakfast of eggs and toast, delicious burgers for lunch (from a delicious restaurant called Dish), and of course chimney cakes! (Good thing we did a lot of walking...)

Prague is definitely beautiful and there are so many interesting places to go and sights to see.  I would 10/10 recommend going with your best friend, because that made Prague even more special for me!

Xo,
