All Roads Lead to Rome: Day 1

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and of course we couldn’t cover the entirety of the city in a day either, but within two days, we covered the highlights of Rome that we wanted to see.

Day 1 began with arriving to our hotel to drop off our luggage. Our hotel was RIGHT in front of the Trevi Fountain (swoon!!)! The perfect location. I don’t think I would ever tire of seeing the beautiful fountain.

From there we walked (and walked) to the Vatican, where we went to the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel (and my dad and I snuck into Saint Peter’s Basilica). Gorgeous and so full of history!

Afterwards, we walked (and walked and walked - and I led my family down the wrong street and they’ll never let me forget that we passed a dead animal while walking the wrong way hahaha oops...) to the Montmartre District, a cute and artsy part of Rome. We ate lunch (at like 3:00 pm due to my faulty directing skills haha), and then explored the area! Since it’s not tourist season, and due to the rainy weather, there were not many people around and it was nice and quiet. Of course I was drawn to all the flowers that provided pops of pink!

We walked some more and went to Piazza Navona.  (There are so many fountains around Rome!)  The Pantheon was our last stop before we arrived back at the Trevi (!!!) and our hotel.
